Victorian Prescribed Rental Application Form

    From 31 March 2026, Victorian rental providers and their agents must use the prescribed application form for all applications to enter into a residential rental agreement, under section 30AC of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 and regulations 14A-14B of the Residential Tenancies Regulations 2021. The form limits what a rental provider or agent can request from an applicant - no more than two financial documents and no more than two identity documents.

    The prescribed form replaces the varied application processes agencies previously used, standardising what information a rental provider or agent can collect from an applicant:

    • No more than two financial documents (for example, pay slips, a bank statement, or Centrelink payment statements) to verify capacity to pay rent
    • No more than two identity documents (for example, a driver licence, passport, or Medicare card) to verify identity
